Step 1: Finding and Claiming

1. Find data to rescue in the Datasets to Rescue database. Look for datasets with either no claim status, or that are marked unclaimed.

   Tip: You can use the filter option at the top to sort the list for agencies or types of datasets you are most interested in.

2. When you are ready to claim dataset(s) to rescue, go to the dataset claims form.

   1. Select the dataset(s) to claim from the drop-down. The drop down is searchable. If you want to claim multiple datasets, click the plus button to add more.

   2. Add your contact info (either Mattermost handle or email)

3. If the data you want/need to rescue is not on this list, please fill out the Nominations form.

4. If you later decide that you cannot rescue the data, fill out the claim form again, selecting unclaimed and fill in the reason why the data cannot be rescued.
